Brandy & Ginger Ale

Brandy and Ginger Ale is a warming, easy long drink: smooth brandy topped with spicy ginger ale over ice. A classic choice at Christmas.

Ingredients

• 50ml brandy or cognac
• 150ml chilled ginger ale
• Ice
• Orange or lemon twist

Method

1. Fill: Fill a highball glass with ice.
2. Build: Pour in the brandy and top with ginger ale.
3. Finish: Stir gently and garnish with a citrus twist.

Tips for the Perfect Brandy & Ginger Ale

• Ginger ale gives a milder drink; ginger beer makes it spicier.
• An everyday VS cognac or brandy is perfect here; save the older bottles for sipping.
• A dash of bitters adds depth.

Variations

Add a dash of Angostura bitters and a lemon wedge to make a Horse's Neck, garnished with a long spiral of lemon peel.
