The Rock Shandy is South Africa's favourite soft drink: lemonade and soda water with Angostura bitters over ice. Refreshing and not too sweet.

Ingredients

  • 100ml lemonade
  • 100ml soda water
  • A few dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • Lemon slice

Method

  1. Fill: Fill a tall glass with ice.
  2. Build: Pour in equal parts lemonade and soda water.
  3. Finish: Add a few dashes of bitters and a lemon slice.

Tips for the Perfect Rock Shandy

  • Angostura bitters contain a small amount of alcohol, but a few dashes add only a trace; skip them if you need to be strictly alcohol-free.
  • Equal parts lemonade and soda keeps it nicely dry.
  • Some versions use lime cordial instead of bitters.
