The L'Chaim Lemon & Mint Spritz
A vibrant, refreshing, and kosher-friendly cocktail perfect for summer gatherings, featuring bright lemon, fresh mint, and a celebratory spirit.

Ingredients
1.5 oz (45ml) Kosher Vodka
1 oz (30ml) Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
0.75 oz (22ml) Simple Syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
6-8 Fresh Mint Leaves
3-4 oz (90-120ml) Chilled Soda Water (or Kosher Sparkling Wine for a richer option)
Garnish: Lemon wheel, fresh mint sprig, and a few pomegranate seeds (optional)
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the fresh mint leaves with the simple syrup. The goal is to release the aromatic oils, not to shred the leaves.
Add the kosher vodka and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
Strain the mixture into a chilled highball glass filled with fresh ice.
Top the drink with chilled soda water (or kosher sparkling wine).
Gently stir to combine.
Garnish with a lemon wheel, a fresh mint sprig, and sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds on top for an extra touch of colour and flavour.
Serve immediately and raise a glass – L'Chaim!
Tips
Fresh is Best: Always use freshly squeezed lemon juice and fresh mint for the most vibrant flavour.
Adjust Sweetness: Feel free to adjust the amount of simple syrup to your preference. Start with less and add more if needed.
Chill Your Glass: For an extra refreshing experience, chill your highball glass in the freezer for a few minutes before serving.
Muddling Technique: Be gentle when muddling mint. Over-muddling can release bitter flavours from the leaves.
Variations
Mocktail Version: Omit the vodka and use an extra 0.5 oz (15ml) of lemon juice or a splash of non-alcoholic spirit alternative to maintain the balance.
Sparkling Twist: For a more festive drink, swap the soda water for a dry kosher sparkling wine like Prosecco or Cava.
Herbal Infusion: Experiment with other herbs like basil or rosemary for a different aromatic profile.
Honey Sweetness: Replace simple syrup with honey syrup (equal parts honey and hot water, stirred until dissolved and cooled) for a richer, more nuanced sweetness.
