Ingredients

  • 50ml dry or bianco vermouth
  • 150ml chilled tonic water
  • Lemon or orange slice
  • Ice
  • Sprig of rosemary or thyme (optional)

Method

  1. Fill: Fill a large wine or copa glass with ice.
  2. Build: Add the vermouth and top with tonic.
  3. Garnish: Stir gently, add a citrus slice and a herb sprig.

Tips for the Perfect Vermouth & Tonic

  • Vermouth is a fortified wine, usually 15-18% ABV, so this is a great lower-alcohol choice.
  • Keep opened vermouth in the fridge and drink it within a month or so.
  • Sweet red vermouth with orange also works well.

Good to Know

Vermouth on ice with soda or tonic is a popular aperitif in Spain, where 'la hora del vermut' (vermouth hour) is a weekend tradition.

Please drink responsibly. Know your limits, and never drink and drive.
