Maple Pecan Blondies
Bring maple pecan blondies to the table for something different alongside a drink. The recipe balances flavour and texture using straightforward techniques and measured ingredients. Serves 12. Have everything ready before you start, follow the cooking and cooling times below, and pour a small glass of Brown Ale when the food is ready.
Ingredients
Serves 12
150 g butter
180 g light brown sugar
3 tbsp maple syrup
2 eggs
180 g plain flour
100 g pecans
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
Instructions
Heat oven to 180°C, 160°C fan and line a 20 cm square tin. Melt butter and cool for 5 minutes.
Whisk butter, sugar and syrup, then whisk in eggs and vanilla.
Fold in flour, baking powder and chopped pecans and spread evenly in tin.
Bake for 25–30 minutes until edges are set and a skewer has moist crumbs rather than wet batter. Cool completely and cut into 12.
Serving Suggestions
Allow the full cooling, setting or freezing time in the method before serving. Cut or scoop modest portions after a meal and keep chilled ingredients refrigerated until needed.
Pairing Tips
Start with Brown Ale. Nutty, gently caramelised malt picks up roasted flavours and warm spices without the sharpness of a heavily hopped beer. Serve a modest measure so the drink supports the food. An alcohol-free beer in a similar style is also an option; choose one with a comparable balance of sweetness and bitterness.
